Welcome to Colibri Playschool
Our in-home childcare and playschool opened September 2009. We believe children learn through play and exploration of their environment. We focus on the child’s social-emotional development more so than in rigorous academics. Children learn preschool skills through fun, hands-on activities and teacher-child interactions. We provide open-ended materials and loose parts for children to explore and expand their learning. We promote creativity via arts and craft activities and child-led play explorations.

We are conveniently located near Edmondson Elementary. Our Spanish Immersion Program serves as foundation for children's continued schooling in Edmondson's Spanish Immersion Program.

When I moved to Norwalk in December 2020 I was very nervous about placing my daughter into daycare in the middle of a pandemic. I was also nervous because my daughter had only been taken care of by family. My husband and I took a tour of the in home facility and immediately felt at ease. It was also important to me that my daughter be taught in Spanish as we are bilingual family. Alma went above and beyond with our daughter. Her vocabulary improved drastically. Every day my daughter came home speaking in advanced Spanish vocabulary. The care and dedication that Alma puts into her school is evident in the arts and crafts, projects, and special momentos that were sent home. For Christmas, We received a beautiful card with my daughters picture on it. For Mother's Day she sent home a gift and a card that made me cry. My daughter loves Alma very much and it was nice to to go to work knowing my daughter was in good hands. My daughter adjusted quickly to the daycare and to Alma. I highly recommend this daycare to anyone in Norwalk or the surrounding cities.
